One Concern per Visit
To minimize wait times, please focus on your main issue. We are concerned for you and your problems. Please advise your doctor of all of your symptoms and difficulties. Our doctors do their very best to handle all your medical concerns efficiently.

However, certain complaints require follow up appointments. Please be prepared to return for any follow up appointments at your doctor's medical discretion. Your doctor will focus on your main concern today and if necessary, discuss plans for any other medical issues in future visits.

Uninsured Services
Alberta Health and Wellness may not cover all service fees. For example, forms and sick notes may require payment. All forms must be presented at the reception desk and paid for before the office visit.

Test Results
Please do not call for your test results. When you are sent for a test, ask your doctor if you need to come back to review results. Typically, you are expected to return if your symptoms remain or if your health worsens, even if the doctor does not call you back. Doctors either call or have patients re-called to the office with abnormal results that may need follow up. If in doubt, please contact the clinic to book an appointment to discuss the results with you family physician.

Confidentiality
Expect the highest level of confidentiality from your doctor. You must provide written, witnessed authorization in order to release your medical information to anyone (even a parent, a counselor, or a spouse), unless you are with the person at the time of disclosure.

Termination
Termination of the doctor-patient relationship can be done at any time and can be initiated by either party. If a patient feels that the relationship is not working out, they can find a new doctor. Patients cannot assume that one of the other permanent physicians in the Healthworx Medical Clinic will take them on as a patient and take responsibility for their healthcare. They need to ask, and discuss possible transfer of care with all parties involved.

A doctor can equally decide if the relationship is not therapeutic and if necessary, will notify the patient. If you miss three booked appointments or are abusive towards any staff member you will be discharged from the clinic.

No Shows
Patients who miss three (3) appointments without cancelling will be discharged from the clinic. Please contact the clinic as soon as you know you will not be able to make your appointment on time and to reschedule your appointment so that we will be able to offer your spot to a fellow patient who might be in desperate need to see his or her doctor.

Staff Abuse
Abusive behaviour towards any staff member, physician, or patrons attending the clinic will NOT be tolerated. This will be grounds for discharge from the clinic and possible police intervention. Healthworx Medical Clinic has a zero tolerance policy regarding abusive behaviour towards staff.

Limited Wait Times
We value your time and patience. Our goal is to do everything in our power to ensure that you do not have extended waits. We are a medical clinic and medical emergencies will come up. Please understand that if your appointment is delayed it is due to unforeseen circumstances. Your understanding is always greatly appreciated.
