No Show
Due to the high volume of patients seen in the clinic, an average of 52 000 patients over 12 months, we are no longer able to accommodate patients who do not show up for their appointments.

If you cannot make your appointment, please call and cancel. Due to the high volume of patients not showing up for their booked appointments the clinic will now be implementing a new fee for missed appointments.

Patients who miss their scheduled standard appointment (10 min slot) will be charged a $30.00 fee and for longer appointments like a full physical appointment (20 min slot) $60.00.

During the past year, nearly 2 164 no-shows resulted in many patients being unable to get appointments with their family doctor. The impact of a no-show without proper notice is that other patients can't see the doctor during that time.

As you all know, Healthworx Medical Clinic is an extremely busy clinic, and sometimes patients need to wait weeks, or even months to get in to see their primary physician, and by reducing the no-show numbers it indirectly means that we would be able to assist more patients, and reduce wait times!

Patients will not be able to book any future appointments in the clinic until they have paid their outstanding fee for their no-show.

Thank you all for your cooperation regarding this matter and helping us help all of you better in the future.

No Shows

At the Healthworx Medical clinic we are using our electronic medical records system to keep track of the no show patients so that we can remove them from the clinics patient list if they have more than 3 no shows. The reasoning behind this new clinic policy is so that we can maximize our clinic capacity utilization while maintaining minimal wait times. This new approach would allow more patients to be seen a day while improving clinic efficiency and enables us to better utilize available appointments for our patients in need of medical care.

At the Healthworx Medical Clinic we have found that the reasons for failure to appear include forgetfulness, lack of transportation, feeling better, lack of sense of urgency for the appointment and a lengthy amount of time between scheduling and appointment. In light of so many patients needing a family doctor, we are forced to eliminate first time patients who do not show up for their appointment to meet the doctor.

Total average appointments for the 5 Drs. in the clinic per day: On an average day at the Healthworx Medical Clinic, 200 patients have an appointment to be seen by one of the Drs. Of these, on an average, 19 patients failed to show up for their appointment. Put another way, 9.5% of the available 100% appointment slots per day are lost to patients who really need to see a doctor.

Walk-In Clinic

For non-urgent care, you can visit our walk-in clinic if one of our 6 permanent family physicians are your primary care provider and your medical needs cannot wait until you can arrange an appointment with your physician.

Walk-in clinic hours may change without notice, so please call ahead before visiting. Walk-In clinics may close early when the maximum patient capacity has been reached. Registration for the walk-in will only commence 10 minutes before the starting time.

The Walk-In Hours:
  • Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We are unable to tell patients in advance who the physician will be on the specific day for walk-in. Reason being that we do not have a specific roster set up for the walk-in services due to the fact that we need to see who will be available in the clinic on a specific day.
